Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge
Millions of birds! Migration from the Northern Canadian Rockies has been taking place since October. We saw thousands of snow geese and Sandhill cranes congregated on fields and lakes, feeding by day in the fields and protected from predators while they slept on the water at night.

Your photos are gorgeous, with the deep colors and the birds against the blue sky (or reflected in a pond). Are the snow geese feeding on left-over grains in the fields? And is this their winter home, or is it just a stop-over on their way down to the gulf, where they might feed in marshes & stay till it’s time to fly north again?
